[Mailing List] [Setting] [New Message] [Sending mail]
(see Emailing List Files and Databases)
To create a mailing list, you can use DynamicMailer itself, or use a spreadsheet, word processor, or text editor. You can use the existed Address Book from Windows, Outlook, Outlook Express, Netscape Communicator or Eudora. Each recipient should be on a single line. Each line should contain one or more fields separated by delimiters (e.g., tabs). By default, the first line of your mailing list is assumed to be the names of the fields. Your mailing list might look like:
Month Day Year Company Product OS Title
First Last Email
May 5 1998
IBM display WinNT Mr. James
Jones test1@sohosend.com
June 8 1999 Apple CD ROM
MacOS Ms. Linda Blake test2@sohosend.com
July 17
2000 HP modem Win95
Dr. Henry Flynn test3@sohosend.com
If you use a spreadsheet, word processor, or text editor, save your mailing list as a text (.txt)file.If you use a spreadsheet, specify that you want tab-delimited text. By default, DynamicMailer expects one delimiter between fields (you can change this in Preferences).
The number of fields in the first line will determine the number of fields per line for the rest of the file. Extra fields will be added or ignored as needed.
(see Frequently Asked Questions )
Your mailing list can also come from an SQL-accessible database such as Microsoft Access, Oracle, Sybase, etc. (see Mailing List Files and Databases).
You need enter your 'From Email address' and 'Reply Email address' that You need to do this once. For this to work properly though you will need to know the address of your Domain Name Server (DNS), again contact your ISP if in doubt.Direct - No SMTP Server Required
If checked, DynamicMailer will attempt to deliver each message via a direct
connection with the recipient's SMTP server. Otherwise, the message is delivered
to your own SMTP server, which then routes it to the recipient.
Notes:
Express - High speed sending
If checked,Using this option allows you to use the SMTP Express high speed message
sending system with the exist SMTP List.
If you want, you can change your message tag indicator character or your mailing
list file field delimiter character .You can also specify your tag indicator
character in your message file by using a line beginning with TAG INDICATOR:
in column 1. Your current tag indicator character is always displayed
to the Top left of the message body.
Other setting
<youremail@hotmail.com>, the first line
in your message will be:
Dear, Mr. Yourname :
..........
Note: if Personalized is unselected
And Salutation is unselected, Message BBC (Blind Carbon
Copy) means the program will send 10 addresses to the server and then the message. Message
BBC mode will send much faster than Personalized (about 10000 - 20000 addresses/hour).
However, people are more receptive to messages addressed to them PERSONALLY.
You can compose your message using DynamicMailer itself,
or using a text editor or a word processor (saved as a .txt file).
Anywhere in the message you can use "tags" to indicate
information to be merged in from the mailing list. A tag looks like |Email|
where | is a tag indicator character (this can be changed in Preferences) and
Email is one of the column headings in your mailing list. Your
message might look like:
FROM: John Sellers <test@sohosend.com>
SUBJECT: Your |Year| |ProductType| warranty
Dear |Title| |Last|:
In |Month| |Year|, you purchased a |ProductType| from us for your |OS|-based system. We're pleased to announce that if you renew your |ProductType| warranty by |Month| |Day| of this year, we'll send you a certificate allowing you or any other |Company| employee to buy a second |ProductType| at half price!
Sincerely, John Sellers
Tags are case-insensitive, so |email|, |Email|, and |EMAIL| are all treated the same. Tags can also invoke "macros" which let you test values in your mailing list to determine what values to actually substitute into the message (see "Tags and Macros").
