1) Q: Can you tell me what i need to do with a mailing
list that is a simple.txt file with 1 email address on each line?
:
A:Yes,Simple
text file, where each line contains one e-mail address, Click
button to Load list of addresses from file.
2) Q: Can I edit the mailing list inside DynamicMailer?
A: Yes. You can add, delete, and edit mailing list rows and columns,
append other mailing lists (if they have the same number of columns), and
start new mailing lists from scratch.
3) Q: What is the easiest way to create a
mailing list?
A: Creating your mailing list inside DynamicMailer is
the quickest solution. However, a spreadsheet such as Microsoft Excel is
an effective tool for maintaining and manipulating mailing lists (see " Mailing
List Files and Databases "). A database such as Microsoft Access is useful
for more sophisticated customer database needs, including network shared access
and complex query commands
(4) Q: Can I export the mailing list back to
my database?
A: No, the component we are using for reading the
database is read-only. You'll need to export the mailing list to a file and
import from the file into your database using your database program
(5) Q: How do I import my address book from
Netscape Communicator?
A: Netscape Communicator can export your
address box as tab-delimited text. Under the "Communicator" menu, choose
"Address Book". Then under the "File" menu, choose "Export". Change
"Save as type" to "Tab-delimited (*.txt)", provide a file name ending in .txt,
and hit "Save". In DynamicMailer, under "Settings" menu, choose
"Preferences". Go to the "Mailing List" tab, make sure the field
delimiter is set to "tab". Communicator doesn't export the column
headings, so uncheck the box for "Use first line as column names" . Or you
can edit your exported address book .txt file and add the following new first
line:
DisplayName*LastName*FirstName*Notes*City*State*Email*Title*Department*Address*Zip
This should be all on one line with a tab in place of each "*".
(6) Q: How do I import my address book from
Microsoft Outlook?
A: Microsoft Outline can export your address box
as tab-delimited text. Under the "File" menu, choose "Import and Export"
which brings up a Wizard. Choose "Export to a File" and hit "Next".
In the next window, select "Contacts" and hit "Next". In the next window,
select "Tab Separated Values (Windows)" which is the last item. In the
next window, specify a file name ending in .txt, then hit "Next" and
"Finish". In DynamicMailer, under "Settings" menu, choose
"Preferences". Go to the "Mailing List" tab, make sure the field
delimiter is set to "tab". Microsoft Outlook does automatically export the
column headings (81 in all!), so leave the "Use first line as column names"
checked. However, Microsoft Outlook inserts 5 extra lines after the first
column headings line. You can either delete these 5 rows in DynamicMailer
or delete them in Notepad or Wordpad in advance of running DynamicMailer.
(7) Q: How do I import my
address book from Eudora?
A: Eudora can export your address box as CSV. Under the "File" menu,
choose "Save as".In the next window, select "CSV Files(*.csv)" which is
the last item. In DynamicMailer,To create a mailing list file just
click the "Edit" menu, and then click "New Email List..." .The
first select "Eudora.txt" and you should do then is give the Mailing
List a name, This name must be unique .The Second , you should do then is
give the Mailing List field name. You should select the "Email Address"
filed
for Email
Column (DynamicMailer will not send email if the Email Column does not contain
a standard Internet address like user@domain.com).The Third,Click "import"
button to import data to your Address Book from the comma separated (CSV)
file. If you have different groups of e-mail addresses in your Eudora address
books, you should export each group into the dedicated CSV file. When you
importing your CSVs, you may specify the name of the group in which you
want the appropriate CSV file to be imported.
(8) Q: What happens if I have an incorrect email
address?
A: If the email address does not contain an address in the form user@domain.type, DynamicMailer will canel the
address. If the email address is well-formed, then DynamicMailer will send the
message to your SMTP mail server. If SMTP is unhappy with the email address
(e.g., unrecognized host, bad characters in host name, etc.), the message will
not be sent and you will see the SMTP error message in the status bar and the
"error Send" column which will say "error send 3". If the email address
is acceptable to the SMTP mail server, the message will go out on the Internet,
but if there is actually no such recipient at that address, you will eventually
get an email describing the problem. This will not show up in DynamicMailer
but rather some time later as a regular "bounced" email returned to you at the
FROM email address.
(9) Q: Can I send file attachments?
A:Yes, this is a
feature of DynamicMailer (requires the DynamicMailer Business Edition or Enterprise
Edition). You can send any number of attachments consisting of files of any
type. See ManageAttachments
(10) Q: What will my recipients see when I send them HTML mail?
A: It depends. Recipients with Netscape, Microsoft, or Eudora mail readers
will see the body of the message in their mail reader in HTML, just like a web
page. This includes people who read their mail in web-based mail readers
like Yahoo. Most will see this inline, but others (such as Netscape users with
View Attachments Inline turned off) will see it after clicking on a link in
the message. Some of these will also receive the HTML message as an attachment
(or possibily in second mail message, or rarely, as HTML source appended to
the Alternate Text message). A very few recipients with old mail readers
or odd operating systems might be unable to read the email altogether.
(11) Q: When I send HTML mail, the images, links,
and/or applets don't show up or work, why?
A: Unlike
web pages that can refer locally to these extra files in the same directory,
DynamicMailer HTML Mail files must provide all their HTML external references as
full URLs. This means that all IMG, HREF, and APPLET references must be of
the form http://www.somewhere.com/directories/file in your
HTML source code, and all these references must be on-line and accessible
(typically on a public web server) when your email message is read by the
recipient. See the "HTML Mail" section on this topic.
(12) Q: What are the limitations of the Trial Version
of DynamicMailer?
A: In the Trial Version of DynamicMailer,
all features are initially enabled (include large mailing lists and database
access) so you can test out whether everything really works the way you'd
like. However, after a total of 50 messages are sent the Trial Version of
DynamicMailer will say thank you and exit.
(13) Q: Can I run DynamicMailer from a browser?
A: No. DynamicMailer is a Java application not an
applet. The Java environments inside most web browsers are currently not
accessible for running Java applications.
(14) Q: Can I run DynamicMailer on other platforms?
A: Not currently.
(15) Q: How small can my monitor be for running DynamicMailer?
A: It is recommended that you use
DynamicMailer on a 800x600 screen resolution or higher to display all dialog
boxes properly. On smaller screens you may need to drag some dialog
windows by their title bars to view them in their entirety.
(16) Q: Can I use DynamicMailer to send "spam"?
A: yes, DynamicMailer support multi-threads and
multi-smtp servers. If Customized Msg is unselected And Salutation is
unselected, With only a 28.8k modem, DynamicMailer will send 20 threads, 10 bcc
size, at the rate of over 20000 e-mails per hour,.
(17) Q: What web browser does DynamicMailer use to
display the DynamicMailer Help file?
A: DynamicMailer opens
the DynamicMailerHelp.html file in your system's default web browser, just as if
you had double-clicked the DynamicMailerHelp.html icon or selected it from the
DynamicMailer section in the Windows Start menu. You must have a web
browser (e.g. Netscape Communicator or Microsoft Internet Explorer) installed on
your system to read the DynamicMailer Help file. The DynamicMailer Help
file uses frames, so older or more primitive browsers will not display it
correctly.
